I'm a history nerd. I can't help myself...always have been and always will be. It should come then as no surprise that the more time I spend poking around the quiet corners and dark recesses of the past, the more fascinating tales of strength and survival I discover. It is to the point that my friends and family are wary of any conversation with me that begins with "Did you know..." And so, I have been forced, by the very apathy of the ones I love, to write these stories down and give flesh to the skeletons of the names and dates contained within the dry textbooks.
Esther Ruth was born in the wilds of northern Ontario, Canada to a British father with a very confused accent and a witty and wise American mother. A gypsy at heart, she has lived in six countries and explored countless more. She is currently living in Toronto, Canada with her family and sneaks in time to write while trying to wrangle her four children, which is a feat remarkably akin to herding cats.

At heart, Esther is a life-long lover of history, reading and studying any history text she can get her hands on. In her travels, she has visited every cathedral, castle, and historical site her family would willingly (and sometimes not-so-willingly) allow her to drag them to. Living abroad and traveling extensively has given her a taste, feel, and lust for different places and times. Merely strolling down a cobblestone street sandwiched between ancient buildings can allow a glimpse of the ghosts of the past and inspire a fervid desire to know their stories. This has given Esther an intrigue for different places and times, and a compulsion to flesh out the stories she comes across. With a Masters in Creative Writing and English at Harvard University, BA in Fiction Writing and Literature, and a Graduate Certificate in Editing, Esther has also published three award-winning historical romance novels under a pen name.
A passion for her subject matter and a dedication to historical accuracy characterize her writing.
